What are some of the most popular festivals or celebrations in your country?

My country’s most popular festivals or celebrations are Eid, Christmas Eve, Holy Diwali, and Halloween.

When are they celebrated?

Eid is celebrated after Ramadan the other one is two and a half months after the first Eid

Are they religious festivals?

Yes, some of them are religious for example Eid and Christmas and Easter are religious festivals.

whereas Basant and other festivals like color throwing are not religious festivals.

Is attending a mosque Temple or Church on that day part of the celebration?

Yes, on Eid the first thing the Muslims do is go to the Mosque in the morning and have a collective prayer and after that, they enjoy the whole day by engaging in different types of celebrations like eating

different types of foods and going to their relatives’ houses.

Christmas they go to church for a service in the morning and after that, they go to their relatives’ houses

Are there special foods connected with the celebrations?

Yes, there are special foods connected with celebrations for example people make rice, people make sweets, food, people make puddings, and other things.

Is gift-giving a part of these festivals?

Yes, people exchange gifts or presents to small children and elderly people

There are many things that people do on this festival for example they go to the mosque they go to the Church or they go to the Temple and after the prayer they come back they meet their relatives they eat nice food then they go for a collective celebration or a dance or some singing competition and then they have barbecues and exchange gifts after that they enjoy their time

Yes, I do enjoy these festivals the best thing about this festival is that people forget about past grudges and grievances and they forgive each other they hug each other they exchange gifts which is very good and it’s a kind of a very positive activity

Muslims decorate their houses before Eid and put lights on Christians decorate their houses before Christmas or Easter Christmas tree and in the same way Hindus decorate their houses before Diwali

Yes, the wedding traditions in our in my country are quite long they last for three or four days and many guests almost all the relatives are invited with children and all the whole families are invited they eat food they sing songs

We went to a wedding last year my cousin’s wedding it was such a nice gathering of all of my friends and cousins were also invited so we had singing competitions we danced a lot we had beautiful dresses and we

went to the banquet hall and ate some very nice food

Some people in my country give money envelopes obviously as a gift so that the bridegroom can buy whatever they like or some people bring flowers some people give different types of gifts like cakes

Yes, there are many traditional songs and dances in my country there are especially songs that are particular to this wedding tradition and they mentioned the love kindness and compassion between husband and wife between bridegroom and mate so these are quite nice beautiful songs

Yes, we do celebrate New Year Eve in my country people go out people watch the fireworks

How do you celebrate it?

I go out and sometimes I take my children out as well if the weather is fine because you know it’s really cold in December and we watch the fireworks sometimes we also buy fireworks and do it at home

Yes, I love to go to the festival it is a very good routine very good thing to break your routine and you meet new people you make friends and you meet your old friends’ relatives and you enjoy your time
